This one looks smaller and noticeably lighter. But everything else is a copy of the mini 1. From the quality of materials to the rubberized texture that feels nice to touch to the overall appearance. You could argue they only shrank the covering of the mini 1. Another reason the Go 2 doesn’t qualify as the best alternative is that the mini 2 is a revamped version of the mini 1. This mini 2 is clearly an upgrade of the older model. Inside there is a small pouch for the gun. It’s the same as the one with the old device, but smaller. The only visual difference is the logo. It’s Therabody now, not Theragun. Accessories Thanks to the three speed settings and the high-amplitude percussions, using the Theragun mini will feel powerful enough for people who are not used to sports- or deep-tissue massage. However, for athletes, the mini might not be powerful enough to relax muscles after rigorous workouts effectively. For them, I recommend the Theragun Elite instead. Theragun Mini review: Also consider Having compared it with other mini devices in the market, we found the current price point to be steep, making it likely the most expensive mini device out there.

That extra hundred for the Prime will also get you four attachments, as opposed to the single “standard ball” that comes with the Mini. All things considered though, the standard ball is a good catch-all attachment that can be used effectively on most parts of the body. This is especially true given the fact that Theragun attachments are composed of closed-cell foam instead of rigid plastic or hard rubber, both of which have a tendency to be unforgiving on bony areas or extremely tight knots. We believe the set would’ve been perfect if Therabody included the Wedge head instead of the Dampener, and the Cone instead of the Thumb. This is because the Wedge is perfect for scraping muscles, while the Cone is great for treating trigger points. The rounded Thumb just can’t do what the Cone can. Similarly to the Theragun Mini, the Hyperice Hypervolt GO 2 is a portable massage gun, albeit with a more standard massage gun shape. It's not quite as powerful as the full-size Hypervolt 2 and 2 Pro, and you also miss out on Bluetooth connectivity, but these are things most non-professional athletes can live without. A great no-compromise entry-level massage gun. Apart from amplitude, the Theragun differentiates itself from the “massage gun” competition in two main ways. The first is its triangular handle, which offers a more ergonomic grip, allowing you to more easily massage parts of your body that might otherwise be difficult to reach. Harnessing percussive therapy (basically pummelling muscles to massage the tissue without a masseuse) to speed recovery and help to ease persistent pain, Theragun mini is perfectly portable perfect for kit bags or taking on travels. From our perspective as long-term users of various devices, the one-year warranty was a disappointment as we value longer warranty periods.

While the mini 2 is easy to stall with its 20lbs. stall force, the Go 2 is even weaker. We figure there isn’t more than 10-15lbs. of stall force in the motor. Hyperice doesn’t say how much pressure their device can withstand.

Generally, a higher price tag will indicate a more reliable product and, when fully charged, a decent massage gun should last for a few days to a week, based on around 15 minutes' use per day. Men's Health Lab Approved Even so, the biggest improvement is the sound produced. The mini 1 had a harsh, rough sound. The sound produced by the Mini 2 was less harsh and grating in our testing, a marked improvement over the Mini 1. To be honest, we didn’t expect Therabody to alter the shape of mini 2. We’re guessing it’s a small price to pay for what you get from Therabody. Theragun mini 2.0 in action. Stall force is the gun’s ability to withstand pressure without stalling. When you need a deep tissue massage 2, sometimes you have to press the gun against the muscle. New to percussive therapy and not sure where to begin? No problem. You can link the Mini with the extensive Therabody app for a variety of tutorials and guided routines to get the most out of your massager.
