Another limitation I disliked is that the SofaBaton X1 has very limited support of IP-controlled devices. My Sony television is IP-controlled and can do IR if needed. The X1 will not control that TV via IP, and the documentation shows IP support for just a few devices.

Finally, the three activities worked: Watch Roku (Soundbar), Watch Apple TV, and Watch Chromecast. But I could never switch from watching Apple TV to another activity like Chromecast, and I had to turn off the TV power and start again. The setup is also a lot better. Originally, setting up any device was, in a word, terrible. The codebase was limited and buggy, and navigating the choices was not straightforward. Now it is a breeze. I got a new Apple TV 4K (review on the way) and setup took less than a minute and there was were no quirks like before. Somewhere in the 13 revisions, they got it right. If the user is someone who just wants to choose one Device at a time to control, they’d be better off with Sofabaton’s other, cheaper remote, the U1. As mentioned last month, our X1 remote V9 and Hub V13 are ready to use now.By the way,for WiFi version, due to the firmware database did not include WiFi version before, that's why you only can see the version keeps as 0.0.0,but it will not effect your using no matter which WiFi version is,thanks for your attention. We will focus on the WiFi upgrading next time to be 2.0.8,thank you for your understanding. The image I showed you is the one for our test ,but the version did not finally release, thanks for your patience. When Logitech stopped making the Harmony remote controls in 2021, there were few options to take their place. The Sofabaton sounded promising with its vast database of codes for TVs and other devices. If you have your heart set on a single remote to control your various devices and you're willing to put in a lot of time to get it working, you may get what you need. But it is no substitute for what it is intended to replace.

More notable omissions: While the PS3 and Xbox One were in the database, Sony PS4 and Xbox Series X or Series S were also absent. Nice review, Andrew! I’m pretty sure you and I are in agreement about pretty much everything with this remote. Lots of potential, quite nice to use once you actually have it fully set up, but the setup process is not for anybody who is impatient! Not yet. When the remote control is synchronizing device information, the APP can also upgrade after receiving the HUB upgrade prompt. The setup options for the TV and devices are confusing. You must determine their power state, with the choices being: APP issue: Open the activities switch to device, Remote control Activities, device list without Syning; It is unclear if the TV is left on when switching from one activity to another (e.g., watching Chromecast to watching Roku). I also had to set whether the power command needed separate power on and off keys or a single key. If the device's commands are in a database, why should I have to set them? The database should be coded to know what buttons are used to change inputs.

Sofabaton - X1 - Universal Remote Control,

Sofabaton spares no effort to research and develop electrical remote control to compatible with various of devices. So I am not going to lie; I was very disappointed when Logitech finally announced it was killing the Harmony line of remotes and hubs. Although they had teased killing it for years prior, we Audio Enthusiasts never thought this day would happen. Anywho, so here we are, and Harmony is no more.Enter the Sofabaton X1, the only hub-based remote on the market that anyone is talking about. Every independent developed and produced remote control retains the form and combination attributes of traditional remote controlunder the premise of extremely simple. In consideration of the functionality of our products, the new remote control X1 is equipped with 2-inch display with wireless Hub which support to customize any activity, which make your home entertainment life to be simple. Customer Always Comes First There was hope that the Sofabaton X1 Hub and Remote could replace the now-discontinued Logitech Harmony Hub. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold a candle to Harmony's ease of use, compatibility, and design. The design of the Sofabaton X1 remote is relatively simple. On top of the remote is an off and return button. The return button allows you to toggle between Activities, Devices, and Set (should be Setup). Many people have complained that the Return button is too high, and you need to shift your grip to access it. I don’t mind it because I rarely need to access my devices, so I like not being able to press it accidentally.

Ok, so the remote is still not perfect. I still don’t have any support for Google Home, and Philips Hue support is still nada. But, Sofabaton has explained that they are actively working on the solution and hope to have a fix in the coming months. So if Sofabaton can get Google Home integration working, I would be willing to unplug my Harmony Hub and move to the Sofabaton X1 full-time! You heard me right. The Google Home integration is the last hurdle (for me) that Sofabaton needs to meet for me to be content with the remote as a whole. Other Considerations/Quirks You have to now switch to a different Activity, at which point, the X1 will send appropriate commands for you AVR, being “aware” that it is actually Off when it should have been On. So if this new Activity requires the AVR to be On, it will send the Power On command, because now it’s “aware” that the AVR was Off. They also have improved the IR remote learning function. I have not had any issues finding a code for my devices, but I tried to teach the Sofabaton X1 commands, which worked for me this time. However, learning commands is still imperfect, requiring you to play with the remotes positioning. But the Sofabaton X1 was able to learn them successfully. Still Not Working Although you can select devices on the remote's LCD screen, you can't simply use the remote as a universal remote to control the TV or other device. Pressing the OFF button does not turn off the TV or the home theater system. Each device must be added to an activity. I followed the instructions and designated specific buttons on the Sofabaton to correspond with the input buttons, but nothing was changing. However, I found a workaround! Some of the iOS software is nuanced, and you have to carefully look at what at first looks like a simple statement is actually an option that can be selected. It's not a horrible interface, I think I just need to get used to it. APP side: Add/repair button list, sort button;Remote control side: button list will not be automatically synchronized, manual synchronization is required to restore the consistency; Absent is a numeric pad to allow you to input channels or other functions that may need numbers. I have been a cord-cutter for at least four years now, so this doesn’t bother me. But, I could see this being a deal-breaker for someone who uses the number pad for TV channel input vs. the on-screen menus. I made sure I updated the SofaBaton right away, before trying to do anything else. The iOS software is decent - not great, but decent. When updating the remote I got a popup stating something along the lines of "do not reconnect to the remote for 5 minutes or you could corrupt things." That was a bit disconcerting, but otherwise things went fine. I didn’t have any issues with commands not being transmitted, and I haven’t noticed any significant lag from button press to device action. And early indications tell me I will probably get well over a month on a single charge with my use.
