Ugh what a let down. Had so much potential and I thought a great build up. The protagonist was kind of a selfish asshat, but she was tolerable because Malphas was so endearing. I was even able to tolerate the fated mates trope because of the intriguing world building and mystery. I’ll just say that I would have rated this much higher and been a lot more generous with praise if the author didn’t write a nonexistent and unsatisfying climax. Also, she never earned him. She didn’t deserve him and no last minute “rescues” will make up for her being a disappointing human being. Monster, demon… whatever he is, his muscles are bigger than my head, and that club between his legs… I don’t know if mate means the same thing to him as it does me, but he’s gotta be kidding. Let’s play with witchcraft and then when a huge demon steps through the portal and proclaims I’m his mate I’m not going to take any responsibility of my actions”.
