It’s the perfect Pied Piper scam, and everything is going great. Until they arrive at the town of Bad Blinitz, that is. You honestly cannot go wrong with nonfiction books about cats set in the library. Plus, if you are looking for cat books for young readers, know that there’s a special edition just for them.

I read this when I was a student (in the original Japanese version). After seeing it mentioned in How to Talk About Books You Haven't Read, I'm tempted to reread it. Going through a rough patch herself, Myron (and the library) take in Dewey where he thrives for almost two decades. An excellent period piece satire on the ever more enlightened Japan that the characters were living in, I Am A Cat is an essential read for anyone with, a)an interest in humour and b)an interst in Japan turned into the place it is today.During one hot springtime in 1930s Russia, a strange group arrives in Moscow: the Devil and his retinue; they’ve come to bring chaos to those who refuse to believe in religion. Homer the Blind Wonder Cat (1997-2013) was an eyeless cat who served as the inspiration for the 2009 New York Times bestselling memoir Homer’s Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned about Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat, written by Gwen Cooper. It detailed Cooper's life with an abandoned, eyeless cat that she rescued when he was three weeks old and subsequently named Homer. The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents is perfect for anyone looking for lighthearted books with cats as main characters.

The book also delves into Homer's later years, where he served as a big brother of sorts to a new special-needs kitten who would enter his and Gwen's lives. The Ninth Life of a Blind Wonder Cat also covers his bout with acute liver failure, which veterinarians predicted Homer would die from within a few weeks, a prognosis that proved incorrect when Homer went on to live in relative good health for more than six months. [10] Homer's illness and seemingly miraculous extended life are the subject of Cooper's 2018 short memoir Homer and The Holiday Miracle. I Like to Read® Comics, like their award-winning I Like to Read® counterpart, are created by celebrated artists and support reading comprehension to transform children into lifelong readers. Having seen the cat in the same place a few nights in a row, and after asking the residents if the cat is theirs, he takes it to the local vet.

Diane Rehm. August 25, 2009 . Retrieved March 7, 2019. I Like to Read® Comics are perfect for kids who are challenged by or unengaged in reading, kids who love art, and the growing number of young comics fans. Filled with eye-catching art, humor, and terrific stories these comics provide unique reading experiences for growing minds.

Third, I found the quotes on a variety of complaints about women interesting and humorous since I've never read them anywhere before. For example:The dog, scared witless, shouts, "HIDE! HIDE!" The dog jumps under a couch cushion, and the cat persists in annoying him. The cat climbs on the cushion with his toys. BOOM! The dog jumps, throwing the insufferable cat high into the air. Dewey becomes a staple of this Spencer, Iowa library and community, transforming all of their lives for the better. Now you don't actually need to be a cat fancier to enjoy this book. It's simply a device used as an external viewpoint on us crazy humans. While there are occasions where the appreciation of the feline species will give you some extra laughs, the majority of the book feels like an old-fashioned omniscient narrator tale. Even the no-name cat remarks on his uncanny ability to read human minds and decipher the psychology behind our actions.

Though the citizens of Moscow are understandably shaken by the arrival of Satan and his minions, two people instead find peace with their visit.A really fantastic book on enrichment for cats, with lovely photos and suggestions for modifying your cat's environment, with a nice emphasis on training and my favorite… FOOD PUZZLES! Lots of information on how to play with cats, as well as how to provide enrichment that meets all of the sensory needs! Homer is featured most prominently in two of the tales: “’Cat Lovers Don’t Read Books’,” which takes its title from what a literary agent said to Cooper upon her pitching her idea for a Homer memoir to prospective publishers; and “The Worm Has Turned,” an in-depth look at Homer's obsession with his favourite cat toy—a cloth worm topped with a small jingling bell.
