Elsewhere, Toshiba’s new UF3D line marks the company’s first smart TV with Fire TV built-in to launch in the UK. The 55QA5D63DB is a better upscaler of HD sources than we might have expected for its money, adding good texture, sharpness and even depth to HD sources. And as one final small strength, its IPS panel retains colour better when the TV is viewed from an angle than rival VA-type panels would. Also available in 43”, 50”, 55” and 65” variants, but featuring a regular Direct LED panel, the UF3D TV’s all feature Toshiba’s TRU Picture Engine, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby Atmos as well as an Onkyo speaker system. As noted earlier, the 55QA5D63DB has gone for Android TV for its smart system. This means that there’s no repeat of the missing Disney+ and Apple TV+ apps situation found with the otherwise impressive Toshiba 50UK4D63B. In fact, content levels are high, especially as Toshiba has also brought on board Freeview Play to cover Android TV’s blind spots when it comes to the catch-up apps for some of the UK’s main terrestrial broadcasters.

The Toshiba UF3D comes with a range of accessories. These include the remote control, batteries, power cable, and user manual. Additionally, the television comes with a stand that can be easily attached to the television. Users can also choose to mount the television on the wall using a VESA-compatible wall mount. VS Other Brands The higher native brightness of the 55QA5D63DB also means it suffers less with clipping (loss of subtle shading and details) in the brightest areas than the 50UK4D63DB. There are, to be fair, one or two more picture areas where the 55QA5D63DB does pretty well. Its native 4K pictures are crisp and sharp (a touch too much in its Vivid and Standard picture presets, perhaps), and the sharpness doesn’t break down badly when there’s motion in the frame. Nor is there any of the overt smearing or excessive judder we still often see on budget TVs, even with 24p movie sources.Inevitably for a 50-inch TV costing this little, the 50UK4D63DB features a 60Hz panel. This, together with the limited bandwidth of its trio of HDMI ports, denies it any support for today’s 120Hz gaming graphics, at either 4K or HD resolutions. The Toshiba UF3D comes with a remote control that is easy to use and has a streamlined design. It features dedicated buttons for popular streaming services, making it easy to access your favorite content with the touch of a button. The remote control also has a built-in microphone, allowing users to use Alexa’s voice commands without pressing a button. Connectivity Options The Toshiba UF3D has a sleek and modern design that will complement any living space. It has a slim bezel that maximizes the viewing area, while the stand is sturdy and well-balanced. The television can be wall-mounted for an even more streamlined look. Picture Quality The television also has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, which makes it easy to access streaming services and other online content. It also has Bluetooth connectivity, which allows users to connect to external speakers or headphones. Compatibility

With the name currently licensed by Turkish tech giant Vestel for the UK, the Toshiba brand has been building up a decent reputation in recent years for bringing the most coveted display tech to those on a budget. There’s no local dimming system to deliver local light controls, but this isn’t surprising at all at the 55QA5D63DB’s price point. The Toshiba UF3D is a 50-inch Smart Fire TV that combines the latest in television technology with the convenience of streaming services. With its sleek design and numerous features, this television is an excellent option for anyone looking for a top-of-the-line viewing experience. Technology The Smart Fire TV interface is intuitive and easy to use. It provides access to a variety of apps, including music streaming services and news apps. The television also has a variety of other features that enhance the viewing experience, including a dynamic picture mode that adjusts the picture settings based on the content being viewed. Remote Control Of course, there are some downsides to OLED technology - they're somewhat susceptible to screen burn, with images lingering on the screen if they're left on standby for too long. Is a QLED TV worth it? There’s something for everyone with Android TV. Discover 400,000+ of your favourite movies and shows, we’ve got it all. Experience the best stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic in one place with the top streaming apps, including Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Freeview Play, built in as standard. Plus, with Chromecast built-in™, you can easily cast your favourite movies, music, and more to your TV. The 50UK4D63DB’s smart features are delivered by Toshiba’s own Linux-driven platform. This is tidily presented and pleasingly uncomplicated in its approach, and also ties in with the TV’s regular picture and sound set-up menus really well.

The Toshiba UF3D delivers an excellent gaming experience thanks to its advanced technology and low input lag. The television has a 4K Ultra HD display with HDR technology, which delivers stunning and lifelike images. The low input lag ensures minimal delay between the controller and the on-screen action, resulting in a more immersive gaming experience. Viewing Angle The 55QA5D63DB’s speakers, which have been designed in conjunction with Onkyo, are seriously powerful, making it one of the flat-out loudest budget TVs we’ve ever heard. It doesn’t help, either, that the mist and clouding that hangs over dark scenes can sometimes take on a reddish or bluish tint that throws up an even greater barrier between you and what you’re trying to watch.

The IPS panel can’t stop contrast suffering quite badly during viewing from an angle, though, giving us one apt final reminder that for all the things the 55QA5D63DB gets right, its problems with contrast are so fundamental during all but the most glaringly bright content that they’re really pretty hard to live with. In fact, we much prefer the pictures of Toshiba’s substantially cheaper 50UK4D63B, proving – not for the first time – that just throwing Quantum Dots at a screen isn’t the guarantee of better picture quality you might expect. At least at the budget end of the TV world.

The Toshiba UF3D features HDR technology, which provides a wider range of colors and increased contrast, resulting in more lifelike images. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and is a technology that allows for a higher level of brightness and contrast. This technology is ideal for those who enjoy watching movies and TV shows with vibrant colors and rich details. OLED Technology Unexpectedly, the TV is actually detected by the Xbox Series X as supporting VRR (though only up to 60Hz, obviously). However, running VRR into the TV actually causes more screen tearing rather than reducing it as you’d expect. So much so, in fact, that it’s best not to think that the 50UK4D63DB supports VRR at all. When it comes to OLED vs QLED, there are a lot of discussions over which is better, with both having their advantages and disadvantages. QLED TVs have many perks, such as the fact that they have incredible brightness levels and Quantum Dot technology. QLED is a TV technology that gives you vibrant and lifelike colours, making your viewing experience more enjoyable. It uses tiny particles called quantum dots to produce highly accurate and vibrant colours. QLED TVs have good brightness and contrast, so you get a clear picture even in bright rooms. If you want vivid visuals and a great viewing experience, this is the tech for you. The best QLED TVs at a glance: Be transported with breath taking moving audio that fills your room and flows around you. Dolby Atmos®, an internal subwoofer and our integrated speakers, designed by Onkyo, complete your audio and visual cinematic experience for captivating viewing. Soundbar: A soundbar can improve the sound quality of your television, providing a more immersive experience. The Toshiba UF3D is available in a range of sizes, from 43 to 65 inches, making it suitable for viewing environments. The 50-inch model is popular, providing a large viewing area without being too bulky or expensive. Users can choose the size that best fits their viewing environment and budget. 4K Resolution
