By the end of 1995, 400,000 copies of the game had been sold in Europe. [8] This number grew to 900,000 copies sold worldwide after two years. [19] It is also the best-selling PlayStation game of all time in the UK, beating popular titles such as Tomb Raider II and Gran Turismo. [20] According to Gamasutra, Rayman Advance 's sales neared 600,000 units during the first half of the 2001–2002 fiscal year alone. [21] The game's sales reached 770,000 copies by the end of March 2002. [22] Rayman is a side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by Ubi Soft as the first installment of the Rayman series. It was originally released in September 1995 for MS-DOS, Windows, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, and Sony PlayStation. [3] The player controls Rayman, a hero who must restore balance to his colourful world from the evil Mr. Dark. Ly the Fairy is a benevolent fairy, an ally of Rayman who assists him through the course of the second game and in the other versions of Rayman 3 (e.g. Game Boy Advance) and Rayman Raving Rabbids (e.g. Game Boy Advance). She has an assortment of magical powers. [17] Rayman: Raving Rabbids PC Summary | GameWatcher". www.gamewatcher.com. Archived from the original on 21 February 2016 . Retrieved 2 January 2021.

Thompson, Jon. "Rayman (Game Boy Color) Review". Allgame. Archived from the original on 14 November 2014 . Retrieved 13 April 2022. The Game Boy Advance version is notably different from the console versions, being that it is a 2D platformer developed using the same engine as the Game Boy Advance port of Rayman 3. This version includes characters from previous Rayman games that do not appear in the console versions. Featuring racing and battle modes that can be played solo or as local multiplayer events with up to four players, it’s a game that’s full of the trademark Rayman visual polish and excellent animation. GameSpot gave the MS-DOS version a 7.4, complaining of several issues such as the infrequent save points, but summarizing, "Take any good scroller like Donkey Kong or Pitfall, add scintillating colors, wonderfully clever gaming elements, engaging and humorous characters, terrific music, and heaps of whimsy and you have Rayman." They did, however, criticize the fact that one had to install a "ridiculous" 50 MB of data on their drive just to see the introductory animation, with the whole installation being a "sublime" 94 MB. [32] Next Generation 's review praised the graphics, solid game speed even on low-end PCs, "multitude of challenges", and charming player character, and said the game made a good change of pace from other PC releases. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a 3D platformer played from the third-person perspective. Rayman, the game’s primary protagonist, uses his jumping and punching abilities to make his way through various brightly colored stages. Globox and Andre, both contained within Globox, accompany Rayman and provide periodic commentary on the events that are taking place. Rayman’s primary weapon is his fist, which he can fire projectiles at enemies such as Hoodlums and other adversaries. These bullets are more lethal when Rayman charges his fist by holding the “shoot” button for an extended period.Polokus, also known as the " Bubble Dreamer" in Rayman Origins and Legends, is a divine being and, according to Rayman 2, is the creator of Rayman's world. During the plot of Rayman 2, Polokus is sleeping and can only be awoken with four masks that Rayman is tasked with collecting. He later got redesigned in Rayman Origins, where he appears larger, a little more amphibious and elderly while blowing bubbles with a hookah or pipe. This port was later released on the PlayStation Network on 18 December 2008 in North America and on 28 July 2010 in Europe.

Broesder, Chris. "Rayman (Sega Saturn) Review". Allgame. Archived from the original on 14 November 2014 . Retrieved 13 April 2022. Later in the game, Rayman is given some items to help him, such as the Rain Mask, which allows him to perform a Rain Dance like Globox's and helps plants to grow, and the Lums Radar, which is a magnet that can help him find any Yellow Lums that he may have missed. Recalling the original Rayman game, Rayman can at one point be shrunk to help him squeeze through a small hole by eating a yellow mushroom that he needs to water with the Rain Dance. Along with some expanded level revisions with lums being placed in different locations, there are three new bosses to contend with. The Hall of Doors has become hub locations, The Minisaurus Plain, Globox's House, and The Rainbow Creek. Bonus challenges can also be played by freeing caged Familiar Spirits. These prisoners are exclusive to this version of the game. The game also gives the option to use either the real language voice-overs or the older version's style and lets players save mid-level. Spellings Rayman 2 (2D platformer) - Rayman 2 was originally conceptualised as a sidescrolling 2D platformer, like the first game. [9] [10] Development on the prototype began in early 1996 with a team of six people [11] and a budget of 10 million francs. [12] It was slated to be released on the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Microsoft Windows in the fourth quarter of that year. [9] The prototype of Rayman 2 featured some usage of prerendered bitmaps of 3D computer models, differing from the hand painted presentation of its predecessor, beginning in 1998. [10] [13] A prototype containing a single level is playable in the final PlayStation version of the game if the player completes a certain percentage of the game. [ citation needed]It runs absolutely awful. I'm in a PAL area (Ireland) and it's 25fps and less (it actually drops from 25fps). Popolopoï: This mode uses a time limit in which a character must complete three laps in. Although the time starts at 20 seconds, the time can be increased by shooting butterflies named Popolopoïs, which come in different colours that represent how much time is given. Only one player can play in this mode. PS: Rayman 2 TGE not need answer as the most complete version is for the Sega Dreamcast, and there is no doubt.
