He knew nothing of 'his' baby she was carrying and then had a horrific abortion which lead to her being hospitalized and no longer being able to have kids. Dangerous Lady was a four-part British mini-series TV drama, which aired on ITV and was based on Martina Cole's 1992 novel of the same name.

No one thinks a seventeen-year-old girl can take on the hard men of London’s gangland, but it’s a mistake to underestimate Maura Ryan: she’s tough, clever and beautiful – which makes her one very dangerous lady. A stage version of Dangerous Lady opened at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, London, [2] her third to be presented at the Royal Stratford, to positive reviews. It is not the normal sort of thing I go for -gangland crime and murder but I was surprise and every pleased to learn that I could not put it down! The police are determined to put Maura away once and for all and not everyone in the family thinks that's such a bad idea.On one hand the novel appears very pro-feminine state and it feels like it really wants to build that sense of ‘girl power’ in the 70’s. In the meantime, I’m looking in the cupboard at home because I fancy I put a really great story in there several years ago. I did find many similarities in this novel to Betrayal with the character of Aiden being cut from the same cloth as Michael but in this novel I found it easier to sympathise with both Maura and Michael, though both characters are at times incredibly violent and terrifying their softer sides make them far more rounded and complex characters. It took me from thinking how awful the people were to feeling sorry for them because there was no other option in most cases other than to go into the family 'business'. Creating strong characters and story lines that will have you gripped from the first page to the last.

No one thinks she could take on the hard men of London’s criminal underworld but it would be a mistake to underestimate Maura Ryan: she’s tough, clever and beautiful – which makes her one very dangerous lady.Just yeah, not entirely 17 anymore and although this books smells like teen spirit, it smells as well like once upon a time gorgeous mister Harold Robbins and once upon a time irresistible mister Sidney Sheldon. The Take was serialised on British television on Sky1 in June 2009, which starred Tom Hardy as Freddie. Maura (Maws) and Michael (Mickey) are fabulous characters along with all the other Brothers, Mum and Dad etc. When it comes to the crunch, Maura has to face the pain of lost love in her past – and the dangerous lady discovers her heart is not made entirely of stone. The story of a family of West End gangsters of Irish descent in 1960s post-war London, and the secret love affair between Maura, who rises to become one of the leading gangsters of her day, and Terry Patterson, a policeman.

With her numerous brothers Maura Ryan just wants to get on with her life, but she never really had a choice, so when faced with the realisation of her reality, takes to a life of crime like a duck to water, emerging as a very dangerous lady. I felt like reading it again just to see how many times she said the same thing, but I couldn't put myself through that again reading the same thing. She begs her brother to let her get involved in 'The Business' and does a fine job and earns respect. Dangerous Lady grabs hold of you from the start and you can't help but be engrossed in the story, unaware of the hours passing by. This first book of Cole's also has some great quotes from working class humour to challenging the way society judges and treats criminals of the ruler classes.
