Full Price Guide for Lugia V #79 (Pokemon Japanese Paradigm Trigger)

In September we discovered a Dark Phantasm trademark, which may feature Darkrai. That should also release around March. Paradigm Trigger comes out on October 21, after the release of another Japanese-exclusive expansion set, Incandescent Arcana. Both expansion sets include Pokémon from various generations while also bringing an end to the Gen 8 era of the Pokémon TCG. In addition to Paradigm Trigger, the best Incandescent Arcana cards will hit Silver Tempest, the international Pokémon TCG set which will bid adieu to the Sword and Shield era. Silver Tempest will be released November 11, just days before the Gen 9 games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, are released for the Nintendo Switch. Releasing on October 1st in Japan, it has been confirmed that Paradigm Trigger will focus on Lugia, Regidrago, and Regieleki. It is likely that Lugia will get a VSTAR as it is thought to be the mascot of the set. This is also likely the set where Regidrago and Regieleki, who have previously only gotten their own holo cards, will finally be featured on Pokémon-V. This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play. If another card with the same name is in play, you can't play this card. If this Pokemon is in your hand when you are setting up to play, you may put it face down as your Active Pokemon.

Special Battle Set Charizard VSTAR vs. Rayquaza VMAX:It is unknown how many new cards will appear here, but we will get Shiny versions of Charizard VSTAR and Rayquaza VMAX. It isn't yet shown if they will appear in the style of Shining Fates Shinies, Gold Shinies, or something else entirely. It will arrive in Japan on November 4th. Once during your turn, if you have no Supporter cards in your discard pile, you may attach a [F] Energy from your discard pile to 1 of your Pokemon. At this time we have no idea what the set name could be referencing. A paradigm is a standard, perspective, or set of ideas, so this set may be “triggering” a change in the TCG. C][C][C] Star Gravity (VSTAR Power): Put damage counters on all of your opponent’s Pokemon V until they each have 100 HP remaining. (You can’t use more than 1 VSTAR Power in a game.)

If you used 4 cards, heal all damage from each of your Pokémon. (This effect works one time for 4 cards.) So far Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Darkrai, Giratina, and possibly Heatran all seem to have upcoming sets (Shaymin is featured in Brilliant Stars). This leaves Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Regigigas, Cresselia, Manaphy, and Phione if this set were to continue featuring Gen IV Legendaries. C][C] Wrap: 30 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy from your opponent’s Active Pokémon. C] Invite Out: Flip a coin. If heads, switch 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon with their Active Pokemon. G] Shout of Power: 20 damage. Attach a basic Energy card from your discard pile to 1 of your Benched Pokemon.Zeraora - first thing I see this, this Zeraora could be a tech against Palkia. You'll run Eleki anyway. 4 Wow. This Lugia V is a complete show-stopper, forgoing the overdone computer-generated style of this card type for a stunning illustration. Mitushiro Arita is best known for illustrating what may be the most iconic trading card ever produced: the Base Set Charizard. Now, he brings his skills to Lugia decades later for a card that is so beautiful that, were it the Alternate Art Lugia, it would be the definitive chase card of the set. Instead, it'll be an easy-to-pull Pokémon-V that will go down as one of the most gorgeous cards in this set. Incandescent Arcana: Releasing on September 2nd, this set will lead with Alolan Vulpix VSTAR. It is rumored that it will include a Character Rare featuring popular Alola-based Trainer Lillie with her Alolan Vulpix. Paradigm Trigger will continue to utilize Pokémon TCG’s newest VSTAR mechanic, as it has been confirmed the set will include Regidrago VSTAR and Regieleki VMAX. Paradigm Trigger will also feature Pokémon that haven’t been printed in a while, proving that the Pokémon TCG is expanding its reach to include even more Pokémon, and not just reprint after reprint. Art released in promotion of Paradigm Trigger has revealed multiple evolution lines - Omastar, Armaldo, Stunfisk, and Stonjourner - that will be included in the set, though their official cards have not been revealed yet. Including these ancient Pokémon is another hint that the set has been inspired by Fossil and Neo Discovery. That being said, the following is every card revealed so far:

C][C] Cell Fork: 60 damage. Choose 2 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon and put 3 damage counters on each of them. R] Assist Flame: 20 damage. Attach up to 2 [R] Energy from your discard pile to your Pokemon in any way you like. This Stadium stays in play when you play it. Discard it if another Stadium comes into play. If a Stadium with the same name is in play, you can’t play this card. Whenever you play a Pokémon for your hand to evolve the Pokémon V this card is attached to, heal 100 damage from that Pokémon. If you used 4 cards, heal all damage from each of your Pokemon. (This effect works one time for 4 cards.)

PriceCharting Index: Pokemon Japanese Paradigm Trigger

This set is the eleventh Pokémon Sword & Shield TCG series and focuses around Pokémon of the Hisui region. It continues mechanics including VSTAR, and introduces the first Trainer cards that give a VSTAR Power Regidrago has been featured on 4 different cards since it debuted in the Evolving Skies expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Regidrago cards are normally Dragon-type Basic Pokémon.
