Description

The characters are well fleshed out, the story makes sense, but deep inside all the gore there is a commentary about parenthood and the ills of the world we live in. Psychologically speaking, this is a study in all that can be done incorrectly to a child. Heya, I just wanted to clear something up to possibly help in understanding, this book isn’t in the horror genre. This actually falls under the genre of “splatterpunk” which is just a lot of gore and violence. It isn’t for everyone of course cause it is disturbing for a lot of people, I personally enjoy it a lot because I’m just jaded as a person tbh, but I do want to let you know as well, the slob isn’t the only book that’s splatterpunk, however the slob is the only one that’s actually kind of well known about for a reason. And that reason is that it’s just the tip of the iceberg for this genre. It typically gets far worse than this, the videos and movies especially. The slob and splatterpunk genre again, isn’t for the faint of heart to say the least. But I hope this clears up some misunderstanding, that this isn’t horror nor is it intended to be In the horror genre.

The Slob by Aron Beauregard | Goodreads

The Slob by Aron Beauregard brings forth an unpleasant reality of intimate violation and torment. The reader should be aware physical violence and horrendous acts of defilement is a common thread throughout this splatterpunk novella. I did not like this book. I wanted to, I could see that there was a point haunting the edges of the book. But I just, I just couldn't. With Playground, Aron Beauregard transcends himself, delivering a genuinely chilling, uncomfortable novel that will make even the most jaded horror fan squirm. A harrowing, relentless read that left me breathless."

Yep, loved 'The Slob' and loved 'The Son of Slob' too, so cannot wait to find out what the master, that is AB, has in store for us next. Vera’s son is the result of a life of vileness. The man who took everything from her hasn’t finished planting his evil seed, Harold. His appearance and behaviour are repulsive, all too familiar, and growing increasingly worrisome by the day. Vera is determined to normalise her child’s life so that she can bring out the good qualities she has seen in him or her on rare occasions. Will the glimmer of hope she seeks emerge, or will she be left to mop up another bloodbath? About The Author Aron Beauregard

It was a joke, but sorry it didn’t land for you. You know, people go to psychiatrists for far less extreme reasons. The Slob has received critical praise and as a result, has been nominated for the 2021 Splatterpunk Awards!I travelled with Vera on her long, disturbing and horrific journey, and I felt every emotion along with her. It was heartbreaking, brutal and terrifying. I really felt for her. once again, the true horror here was the author’s abysmally juvenile writing style and misogynistic tendencies. every time i almost got interested in the plot i would be subjected to a phrase like “fermented beaver” or a description of a wound as resembling a “gape” video. This book did not disappoint, but it did twist and turn in ways I would have never fathomed it to reach.

I didn’t think I could read anything more disgusting or disturbing than The Slob, but Aron Beauregard has outdone himself with Son of the Slob. I think the ending worked really well and followed how the reader sees the events played out. Beauregard does a great job of showcasing the hurt that was created with Geraldine’s actions as well as how this directly impacted the various characters in the novel. You will see some parallels with that movie when you read this one, but it is hard to imagine how far the author went with this one. If this was made into a movie, it would never see the light of day. It is SAW on steroids to the AAHHHHH degree. The entire plot is her entering the house of The Slob, and then being tortured, brutalised, humiliated, and sexually assaulted in the most horrific ways. Her child is aborted in a way that I can’t even describe here. At first we experience her own destruction, and then he moves onto her ‘roommate’ who is similarly subjected. They try to escape, and find even more corpses of women in a barn, each with their own ‘imaginative injuries’. Both women have their own dedicated rape scenes, and objectification is taken to the extreme with one woman’s “oral lips being sewn to her lady lips.” The amount of effort and time that is spent during these scenes describing everything in intimate detail – from The Slob’s genitals to the woman’s injuries – shows an obsessive approach to this violence. Everything else in the book is simply filler from one torture scene to the next. Beauregard has set this up as an escape room story for kids – with the only difference being each room is literally live or die – and the dying part is always a carnage filled paragraph of viscera. It also shows how some of the kids will band together and work to survive, while others are singularly focused on themselves and that typically doesn’t work out so well.I had to think about this for a couple of days before I wrote anything. Aron, I would appreciate this review not being posted to Facebook. The children will surprise you as your going on this vile and twisted adventure right along with them. The choices they will have to make, the choices some of them do make, and the consequences of thier actions. The familiarity of their childhood is captured really well. The soft hearted, the hard hearted, the shy and meek, the conformed and the broken. I loved them all and was routing for them no matter their character, after all they are just kids. For anyone who doesn't understand why I can love one extreme story and hate the next, let me tell you something about myself:

review: ’The Slob’ by Aron Beauregard Book review: ’The Slob’ by Aron Beauregard

I had the absolute honour and pleasure of an ARC of Son Of The Slob, and what an awesome treat it was! Thank you so much Aron. 😁 Every time I read one of Aron’s books, I end up having a visceral reaction and this time it was to the smells that he described. Oh my god, the stenches that filled this book were beyond my gag reflex. So gross. This story is rich in description. The reason why I rated it a 5 star. It was repulsive and vile and yet. I couldn’t stop reading it. There were moments of tension that were built up so well that I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Always bleak, explicitly graphic and extreme in content, this story can be considered a masterpiece in this genre and can be enjoyed by all fans and followers of this particular brand of horror story. Pure genius! Over the last number of years, Aron Beauregard has emerged as one of Extreme/Splatterpunk Horror’s true Heavy Weights. His books are hotly anticipated by his ever-growing throng of fans and he has been raking up the accolades as well – becoming Splatterpunk Award nominated and Splatterpunk Award winning during that time.Raised in a household so filthy it was stomach-spilling, Vera involuntarily evolved into a neat freak. Upon discovering she and her disabled husband Daniel are expecting, she needs fast cash. Her obsession with cleanliness sprouts the concept that her skills can be put to use in a unique way. She takes a stab at the booming door-to-door vacuum sales business of 1988. i about lost all interest when a nazi showed up. it has a good premise, and i felt it had the promise of exploring how low-income families are exploited at the hands of the rich. unfortunately, there was no social commentary. the characters were evil just to be evil. as a jewish person, it's uncomfortable to read about a nazi in this light; the forced german accent was just plain strange. This was at times, hard to stomach but was made hilariously funny by my ‘reading buddy’ MadameD, whose reactions to Harold, etc, made me LOL 🤣
