Follow That Dream” opens nationally and gets to#5 on the box office charts. It is warmly reviewed and does fairly well in sales. March 26 - June 11, 1962

I think of 1, 2, and 3 as a tie so I listed them chronologically. That said, From Elvis In Memphis is my fave of the three. March 2, The Elvis Army years come to an end on March 2 at 5:25 p. m. as Elvis leaves Germany and arrives in New Jersey the next day for a press conference. He is officially discharged from active duty on March 5, 1960, at 9:25 a. m. He boards a train for Memphis, arriving on March 8. Press and crowds of fans are everywhere for this historic series of events. He holds a press conference at Graceland in his father's office behind the mansion on March 8. He has served his country just like any other G. I. , with no special privileges his celebrity status might have afforded him. These two years away from his career have been a time to mature. He has also worried constantly that his lengthy absence might have damaged his career progress.

Every year after this, Elvis donates money to a list of Memphis-area charities, eventually reaching fifty or more, usually around Christmas time. Within a few years, to show their appreciation the city gives him a massive plaque listing fifty charities Then, Elvis performs one afternoon show and one evening show at Ellis Auditorium to benefit around thirty-eight Memphis-area charities. Other than the Sinatra television show, these shows are, so far, Elvis' only live performances since his army discharge. In addition, exotic and vacation settings convey the idea of slipping off to paradise for romantic escapades. For decades, travel brochures have used this very notion to entice tourists to distant lands. Lingering bitterness over his dealings with Colonel Parker crept into his account. Sullivan blasted Parker for allowing Elvis to sing only two songs in the special, stating, 'Col. Tom, using the logic of a farmer, is a firm believer in not giving a hungry horse a bale of hay'. Sullivan seemed to forget that it was Sinatra's special, not Elvis', and there were four other guests to showcase as well. Some jabs at how Elvis looked rounded out the column as Sullivan noted that the young singer, 'minus his sideburns, has substituted what the ladies probably would call a 'high hair-do'. His hair is so high in front that it looks like a ski jump'.

Then I thought of a better idea: List the 10 Best Elvis Albums of the ’60s and ’70s and let the readers figure out what I meant and argue with my choices and what they imply. We’re remembering Scotty Moore, Elvis’ first guitarist and first manager. On Tuesday, he died at the age of 84. Elvis Presley : On the Train and arriving in Los Angeles California, April 20, 1960 to film G. I. Blues Tupelo Hardware Company, located in Tupelo, Mississippi, has been in business since 1926 and is best known for selling a guitar as a gift for Gladys Presley to her son Elvis in 1946. On June 17, 1949, a long-time employee wrote to a young Elvis Presley, asking him what he wanted for his… Elvis Presley posed with one of his cars outside Graceland in this photograph published March 7, 1965 in the first issue of Mid-South, the now-defunct Sunday magazine of The Commercial Appeal.Yet Elvis did not record the song just to gain a broader audience'. O Sole Mio' was written by G. Capurro and Eduardo di Capua at the turn of the twentieth century, but it had been made popular much later by Mario Lanza. Elvis was a fan of Lanza and undoubtedly heard the opera singer's recording, but he had also heard the English version 'There's No Tomorrow' by Tony Martin. December 2: Elvis calls Priscilla and invites her to Graceland for the Christmas holidays. She arrives on December 8.

It is not uncommon for Elvis to sing lines and then repeat them later in an ad, but his fans took it all in stride, despite his occasional confusion. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a genuine passion for the instrument, and his willingness to experiment with his music was a characteristic of his work. March 2: Along with 79 other soldiers, Elvis Presley boards a plane for McGuire Air Force base in New Jersey. Priscilla, dubbed "the girl he left behind" by Life magazine, is there to see him off.
