I like this focal length for my day to day because it is still a standard lens as in they are close to human’s eyes focal length, but just a bit wider than a 50mm. It works for me though because most of the time, I just put the lens at infinity with my aperture at f4 that provides general sharpness to the whole frame. Just fixed the aperture around f8-f11 and fixed the focus like 2-3 meters away from you and the camera.

The second best in all of the micro 4/3 lenses tested is the Panasonic mark 2 14-42mm "kit lens" (scores only 13 in the lowest half of the DXO scale); it is also one of the cheapest. As you can see in the photos, it’s very compact; it kind of reminds me of older manual lenses, which is actually what drew me to the lens, and made me want to try it in the first place. If I stop it down to f16, the vignetting goes away, the bluish tinge fades, but the lens isn’t very sharp (I’ve reduced the size of the photo here a lot, but the sharpness was poor in the original unscaled photo).I don’t know why but among the various cameras I’ve owned, the Fuji are the ones that offer the less magnification for shooting AND reviewing images.

The skin tone from the lens is quite neutral and coupled with Fujifilm’s colour, I can’t complain much. Most of the issues with the corners and edges will be gone because of the crop factor and you’re left with a crazy sharp lens with nice contrast if you can keep it in focus.
