According to the cover numbering, this is the penultimate issue in the series and the big bang before the finale. Having beaten all her agents, Catwoman meets Nuri, who swears at her, leading Catwoman to slam her head into the table. That feels like a sweet spot for King to effectively tell his story without stretching it out andwasting time.

At their heart, superhero comics are power fantasies and so when characters like Batman shine, they need to be careful of what exactly they inspire in us. If Killing Time is viewed as an extension on King’s Batman run, I think it represents the best parts of the character when they’re allowed to flourish. Without these, it would just read like another Batman story where there’s a MacGuffin in the form of a treasure.

Steve Baxi has a Masters in Ethics and Applied Philosophy, with focuses in 20th Century Aesthetics and Politics.

It was never an eye of Athena, only a decoy taken from a theater mask to be offered up in its place. What's the point of creating a mystery around a narrator's identity while making the identity patently obvious? It wasn’t their plan; they were the hired help, with their contact being another newbie, The Penguin. I really liked this, but there were many times where the script seems to have been added to the panels as narration and that bugged the hell out of me. A latecomer to comics - I started reading Bruce Wayne: Murderer, Birds of Prey, Hush, and War Games in college.Indeed, this miniseries is narrated by Clock King, highlighting the focus on the villains, and Batman’s impact on them, instead of the deep dive into Batman’s psychology and themes. As much as I go back and forth on the little things that aren’t perfect about this series, I have to admit that I like it. Por mí que King siga escribiendo miniseries de este palo con el murciélago y la gata siempre que quiera. Unless I missed out some brilliant mindscrew, this is just Tom King and the editor screwed up the date right?
