Who are we?
alnaniking uk is a not-for-profit arts organisation dedicated to providing arts education through workshops and performance, primarily focusing on traditional West African music and dance. Since 2005, we can also offer arts and crafts tuition, including mask, textile, jewellery and puppet making.

Although it is based in South London, alnaniking uk operates around the UK and abroad.

alnaniking means 'come and learn' in the Mandinka language, used in most West African countries which were part of the once prestigious Malian empire.

Our ethos

We believe artistic activities are about opening up to each other by participating in group learning: helping people to accept and appreciate each other's different cultural and social backgrounds by engaging them in energising music and dance, or inspiring craft making. alnaniking uk endeavours to explain the contexts in which the traditional songs and dances are performed by different ethnic groups across West Africa, including at religious ceremonies and other special occasions.

What do we offer?

alnaniking uk is committed to deliver high-quality education and performance by professional teachers and resident group Sabari, using traditionally-made instruments and equipment.

Workshops and performance provide entertainment and fun, as well as an educative insight of how the various artsforms are involved in the day to day life of West African people.
