Because rhythm is still an essential part of the African way of life, workshops focus initially on West African drumming and dance.
All teachers are professional artists and are experienced in teaching children and adults from varied abilities, social and cultural backgrounds. They teach traditional rhythms, songs and dances drawn from the musical heritage of Guinea, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso using a selection of authentic acoustic instruments hand made in their countries of origin.
Other arts forms such as mask, textile, jewellery, puppet making and storytelling can also be incorporated in larger projects.
alnaniking uk operates in primary, secondary schools and colleges, community organisations supporting refugees, family learning and special-needs education. The teachers are able to adapt to the requirements of specific audiences and environments. Our work in schools
