Description

While on the Times staff, she commissioned and edited many "36 Hours" columns and wrote a few herself. This third edition of the best-selling 36 Hours Europe is comprehensively revised to offer 130 expert itineraries from The New York Times, revealing the continent's best-kept secrets.

You will never get bored with these books because they can be used as reference materials or even decoration pieces in your home. This updated and revised third edition of the best-selling 36 Hours Europe reveals the continent’s brightest gems and best-kept secrets. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. We offer a wide variety of different Taschen, with everything from the latest releases, to hard-to-find titles. Please get in touch and we will do our best to source your book, no matter how unusual or specialist. The world’s second-smallest continent makes up for size with its intricate cultures and abundant charms, boasting artistic masterpieces and architectural marvels as much as natural splendor.

Lovely summaries and pictures that depict brief stints in different cities: a good overall portrait of Europe. And discover the unexpected: Sicilian mummies dressed in their Sunday best, a dry-land toboggan ride on Madeira, a hotel in Tallinn with a KGB spies’ nest on the penthouse floor.Spot illustrations and section divider maps by Olimpia Zagnoli add whimsey and character to each entry. From Antwerp to Zurich, trust TASCHEN’s New York Times 36 Hours series with your next travel adventure. Through ancient wonders, world capitals and tiny places with infectious personalities, Europe packs some serious travel punches.

Obviously it is too big to carry around during your weekend but I tend to mark places or take a few pictures of the pages of the place I am visiting. This is a lovely gift for those who travel, and good for inspiration when planning a quick weekend getaway, but not actually practical as a carry around travel guide, so thick so it'll probably be grief to travel with.

I don't think I'd follow one of these slavishly (for one thing, I don't go to nightclubs) but I would use this to make sure I don't miss some hidden gems in each city.
