About this deal

The character development of Logan is well done, and the reader will find themselves rooting for him as he tries to piece together the mystery of the murders. The local police receive a letter, very like the letters that Mister Whisper sent to Logan and his team ten years ago. It couldn’t have been easy to walk through Sauchiehall Street after closing on a Saturday with some mouthy wee bam shouting, “Fuck me, is that no’ her out of Scooby-Doo? I feel once I start something I owe it not only to the author, but to the people who read my blog, to finish it out. It is a fairly standard police procedural thriller, but there was one trigger that was just horrifying.

This is a cleverly plotted, chilling and unpredictable read, but be warned there is horrendous cruelty to cats, and although it certainly fits with the character of the perpetrator it may trigger some people. He’d watched husbands break down, stricken by the lack of affection they’d shown their wives in those final days, haunted by some of the things they’d said or done. The fish out off water setting (tick) the hard nosed not playing by the rules cop (tick) - on the other hand the plot was deftly delivered; there were the obligatory twists and turns; there was some humour; the writing wasn't trying too hard but workmanlike if not necessarily memorable. While reading this 327-page book we learn nothing personal about him, except that he had a daughter somewhere. I look forward to getting to know Jack and this team of investigators better as I get further into the series.Generally, I enjoyed this police procedural which was well-written, with a gripping plot and outcome. I can't resist comparing this with another Scottish police procedural I read a couple of years ago with a main character named Logan (although in that case it's a first rather than a last name) and featuring child abductions, Cold Granite.

While the media speculates wildly about monster attacks, Jack and the Major Investigations Team must act fast to catch the killer before they can strike again. Before I even finished this novel I had picked up book 1 in the spin off Robert Hoon series and the next few in this one. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?I don't feel the imperative to definitely plunge into the whole series but hope there is a book that zooms to 5plus stars soon within this sequence- intriguing to a point but maybe not essential. Owen is now in a secure hospital, but refuses to disclose the whereabouts of the bones of his third victim, Dylan Muir. A Litter of Bones is the first novel in the DCI Logan Crime Thriller series and is a mix of classic police procedural and mystery-thriller set in Bonny Scotland. I find it incredibly atmospheric and when you know the rich history of the place it adds an extra feel of appreciation for me.

I loved the first book in the Logan series and you bet, this is going to be one of the best I have read. If a refund or reimbursement is payable to you, we will transfer the money using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase. Make me subject to such an action and I would likely as not end up in the nick because I would get into an argument pretty sharpish. JD Kirk lives in the wilds of Scotland, where he spends his days making stuff up and writing it down.

I definitely have this series marked down for repeat visits when, as now, I'm so busy in my non-reading life that I just want to be distracted and entertained. Despite writing from a young age, 'A Litter of Bones' is his first novel, and combines his love of the Highlands, crime thrillers, and cats. Rather, it was like something IKEA might use as a showpiece for its new office range designed for the deeply unimaginative.
