Which brings me to another aspect I find troubling, that is the depiction of mental health and its treatment, another area where it's probably true to say we are now more aware of sensitivities around turning mental health issues into fodder for crime novels. Lars Kepler is the pseudonym for the husband and wife writing team of Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril. When another girl goes missing the abduction has all the earmarks of the first and Joona decides they're the work of a serial killer.In a novel that is as intense as it is dark, the story pulls the reader into levels of depravity never thought imaginable. I didn't love the writing and thought it was quite simple at times with the majority of sentences beginning with basic pronouns. I have not read any of this series and that might of helped understand the major characters with all their "issues" and flaws and I probably will not read any more of them. While he is highly unorthodox, using illegal drugs to get through the day, his ability to investigate is like no other.

Keen eyed readers of this book series will notice by now that this review has yet to mention a certain character. With the release of The Mirror Man in English earlier this year, this series is now eight novels deep and still going strong. Joona Linna, el protagonista, ya es un viejo conocido para los que hemos seguido las novelas de Lars Kepler.This was my first Lars Kepler Novel and while I found it entertaining and very readable I wasn't convinced by the plotline or the character's actions.
