About this deal

And, for the record, if you didn't like the way Mary Poppins was portrayed in the first book, you won't like her any more in this book. Near Fine with small ding on spine, light wear, in the fragile dust jacket with chips at edges, rubbing and light soiling, a few tears. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. There is so much else to mention, a visit to the constellations, a meeting with a descendent of Noah bringing spring, a carousel and conversation sweets, a wonderful, magical book.

Mary Poppins is a magical nanny who sweeps into the Banks home on Cherry Tree Lane and takes charge of the Banks children. It was not as creepy as the first one, and I honestly don't know if it was because I got used to her creepiness or it was actually less creepy. All four are in very good plus condition with illustrated covers and black and white drawings in the text by Mary Shepard. This time, they visit her cousin Fred Twigley, befriend a statue that has come to life, go riding on peppermint horses, and experience a garden party under the sea. In the stage musical, she is a former actress who is under constant pressure from her husband as she struggles to enter his social circle.

Book is Fine except for bumps to head and heel of spine and a couple of spots on the top page edges. In the books, she is the struggling mistress of the Banks household, and is easily intimidated by Mary Poppins, who treats her with thinly veiled contempt. At the end of the first book, she opens up her umbrella to the West Wind and lets it lift her up into the air and away from the children. It is a great follow on from the first Mary Poppins story, and I'm already looking to get a copy of the next book in this series. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there?Mary Poppins contained a version of the chapter "Bad Tuesday" in which Mary and the children use a compass to visit places all over the world in a remarkably short period of time. Also, I don't really understand why or how, but there are quite a few pretty inexcusable typos I noticed in this one. I read and adored Tom Sawyer, but the story is about Tom coming to see Jim as a person instead of property.

Once again I found myself lost in the magical world of Cherry Tree Lane, once Mary Poppins is around. Travers famously loathed the 1964 film Mary Poppins — so much so that her will stipulates that a sequel can never be filmed. This part was so magical and eerie and left you with a feeling of not knowing what on earth just happened.First US edition, fifth printing of Mary Poppins (December 1934) with first US edition, first printing of Mary Poppins Comes Back (1935) both in red pictorial slipcase.
