About this deal

Carpet tiles are made with either a nylon fibre or a polypropylene fibre. A nylon tile is harder wearing than a polypropylene tile but will cost more. So think about how busy your room is going to be and whether you need to pay more. It is unlikely that replacing a section of damaged carpet with tiles would work. The carpet may be stretched onto gripper so it would distort if a piece was cut out. We offer free delivery for many of our products, including door thresholds and stair rods, dependent on your postcode. Soft vinyl floor tiles are hard-wearing and relatively simple to lay. However, they are not usually recommended for laying over a floor with underfloor heating or a timber floor that has been treated with wood preservative

It’s best to buy all the tiles you need at the same time, with the same batch number, to avoid possible colour variations between batches When cleaning tiles, only use products that are suitable for the material of the tile, as using the wrong product could cause permanent damage Do not start against a wall, because if the wall runs out, so will your carpet tiles. Once you are happy with the position of your starting cross, fill in the four quadrants and finally do the perimeter cuts. Easybind is the smart and attractive binding method for finishing the edges of carpet to make attractive rugs and runners. It is easy to apply and cost effective, making it possible to turn remnant carpet into a feature of your home. You can also apply to upholstery and it proves excellent for edging fitted carpets in caravans and boats. Look online for ‘cut pile’ carpet tiles or just ask us for a ‘soft pile carpet tile’ and we'll know exactly what you mean. Give us a call if you want more information, we’ll be very happy to help you choose the best 'soft pile carpet tile' for your space. If the carpet is glued down, distortion will not be an issue, but any repair would be highly visible. The expected lifespan of a carpet tile depends on how much use it will get. Cheap polypropylene tiles should last around five years in a domestic or light commercial environments. For heavy use, a great choice is a tile with a pile made from nylon. Most nylon tiles have a ten-year wear warranty; a heavier pile weight usually means a longer lifespan for the tile. Square carpet tiles (sometimes called carpet squares) should be laid on a flat, sound, level surface. There is no need for underlay but, if it is required, something fairly firm with very little give should be used, such as cork. If you are re-doing a room at home, the colour and the feel of the tile will both be important but the space is likely to be smaller than in most commercial settings.

And finally, if you want any carpet tile fitting advice or help, or a quote, please let us know. We are here and always happy to help.Carpet tiles are mostly used in busy areas, say offices and receptions, so are manufactured to be hard-wearing, easy to clean and to last a long time. But by being so durable, they often feel hard to the touch and have a short tufted pile. However, if the tiles are not on a firm base then the corners will pop up when pressure is applied to the middle and could cause a trip hazard and a very unsightly job. Firstly, many carpet tiles use a high proportion of recycled materials during their manufacture and secondly, they often generate less waste material when installing compared to the waste from wide-width sheet carpet. Once you discover there is such a product as carpet edge binding, it is easy to get hooked. Because, not only is it great at edging a rug to match your carpet or create a stair runner, but it also proves to be one of those products that is multi-talented. There are lots of uses for it and it is so satisfying to use up all those off-cuts of carpet kept in the loft, just in case. Making your own rugs is satisfying A soft underlay will allow the tile corners to pop up if you depress the centre of the carpet square, and should be avoided. For noise or heat loss issues, it is best to insulate the floor with insulation board first and lay your tiles directly on top.

Alternatively, you can do-it-yourself. It is best to first watch the video (see Video tab above) and then get started – the Easybind way.Carpet tiles are ideal for stairs and easier to fit than other floor coverings, but stair nosings must be used. These hold the upright tiles on the stair risers in position, so they cannot fall forwards and cause you to trip, and the nosings cloak the raw tile edges. Just let us know if you need any help choosing your tiles or working out how many you need. We're always happy to help. So be confident that we can help you grab a bargain and help you choose the right carpet tile for your space. If you have floorboards, these need to be screwed down then covered with flooring grade hardboard (smooth side up) or plywood. The hardboard or plywood needs to be securely fixed in place using 25mm ring-shanked nails at 150mm intervals
