The new Ricoh GR III is the latest iteration of a well-respected camera range, adding new features and technologies to help bring the series bang up to date. We'd like to see faster autofocusing and much improved battery life, though, which both left something to be desired in our initial hands-on time with the camera. Parameter: Brightness, Saturation, Filter Effect*, Hue, Toning*, Contrast, Sharpness (Adjust parameter varies depending on the selected editing setting) Incorporating an 18.3mm f2.8 GR lens, the GR III provides phenomenal image quality in a compact and lightweight body. With an angle of view of 28mm (in the 35mm format) and fast F2.8 maximum aperture, this compact camera is able to produce clean and sharp photos, even in low light. A minimum focusing distance of 6cm also allows for some macro capabilities with a natural bokeh effect. Rather than an optical anti-aliasing filter in the camera, the GR III has an innovative anti-aliasing simulator instead, which can be turned off (default setting) or on to either the Low or High setting, which adjusts the level of the effect. This feature effectively provides the same level of moiré reduction as an optical AA filter.

The case, made of unbleached sailcloth, is also included as an exclusive accessory. It comes with a leather belt that is identical to the finger strap. The sailcloth material was selected because its appearance will become richer and more attractive over the years of use. In news that went mostly unnoticed outside of China, Ricoh released the GR III ‘GRowING’ ING Edition Special Limited Kit, a nature-inspired set that adds green accents to the compact camera as well as a collection of matching accessories.

Display magnification (4x, 16x), Grid display (4×4 Grid, 3×3 Grid), Histogram, Bright area warning, Electronic Level Hands down, my favorite feature of any GR camera is the Snap Focus mode. In a nutshell, Snap Focus mode lets you set a fixed focus distance and use aperture to create the amount of depth of field you need to get your subject in focus.
Ease of Use
A new addition is a three-axis image stabilisation, that gives a four-stop improvement in the shutter speed you can get away with for handheld exposures. ISO has been boosted too to a maximum of 102,400 - which will help cement the camera's low-light credentials.
